The Parallel Between the 7 Chakras and My Astrological Birth Chart
From Chakras to Astrology to synchronicity, this one may inspire you to notice your relationship with the cosmos.
The Start of My Journey with Energy Work
Energy used to feel elusive to me, and I dismissed it for many years. But as I delved deeper into the concept of energy fields—both from a scientific perspective and beyond—and began experiencing the universe in ways that transcended its concreteness, I became more open to it. Eventually, I connected with my energy body and embraced my identity as an empath, with all that it entails.
Last weekend, I earned my first Reiki certification. Reiki is a form of energy therapy that balances a person’s energy body. While chakras were not originally part of Reiki, the areas of the body we focus on during Reiki healing align closely with the chakras. Various traditions may use different names for these concepts, but they often boil down to similar principles.
(If this is new to you, here is a crash course on Reiki and another on Chakras.)
How the 7 Chakras are Connected

I learned that the lower three chakras (Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus) are interconnected with the higher three chakras (Throat, Third Eye, Crown) - When one or more of the lower chakras is out of balance, it can inhibit the flow of energy in the higher chakras. The Heart Chakra is unique because it bridges the lower and higher chakras, acting as the center for love and compassion, which are key elements in healing and transformation in many areas of life.
When I first encountered the chakras, I assumed that since I resonated more with the higher chakras (they felt more interesting), I probably didn’t have significant issues with the lower chakras. But I was quickly proven wrong!
For example, there is a connection between the Root, Heart, and Crown Chakras. A sense of safety at the Root is essential for addressing emotional challenges at the Heart, which then allows for authentic connection with the Divine/God/Universe at the Crown. Similarly, the Sacral and Throat Chakras are linked such that blockages in relationships or sensuality/creativity (Sacral) can lead to difficulties with self-expression (Throat).
The 7 Planets In My Astrological Natal Chart
As I explored energy work and the multiverse, astrology became another puzzle piece I had to dive into. I’m not referring to pop astrology from magazines (I still cringe at those) but the detailed insights gained from analyzing a full natal chart. Learning about the specific planetary placements in my chart and their evolutionary significance offered profound insights for me. Shout out to Astrologers Stefanie Kate Boucher and Karin Eglinton - I’ve learned so much from the both of you!
(A natal chart can be generated on Astro Charts for easy visuals and Astro Seek for a more detailed version. A complete chart reveals intricate stories far beyond your Sun sign.)

In astrology, a stellium occurs when 3 or more planets group together in the same zodiac sign or house. In my case, 6 planets and my North Node form a stellium in Capricorn (see circled area in image 2 above), making it 7 placements. Other planets in my natal chart are excluded here for focus.
The Parallel of the Chakras and the 7 Placements
I realized that if the 7 chakras are interconnected, perhaps my 7 placements in the stellium (including conjunctions) share a similar relationship. When I mapped them out, the conjunctions aligned in ways that mirrored the chakra connections—this is no mere coincidence!
A quick note about conjunctions: Planetary conjunctions occur when 3 or more planets are close together (within 10 degrees) in a chart, intensifying their energies and influencing one another synergistically—think “where the stars align.”
In Table 1 below, I’ve matched the chakras to the planets or node based on their archetypal and symbolic similarities. For example, Mercury (the planet of communication) corresponds to the Throat Chakra, while the Moon (representing emotions and desires) aligns with the Heart Chakra. The rightmost column shows the conjunctions, color-coded for clarity.
Final Reflections
If the universe aligned these six planets and my North Node (representing destiny and purpose) in my chart, perhaps I’m meant to fully experience the challenges, lessons, and growth that each chakra embodies—akin to the metamorphosis of gemstones.
This serves as a reminder that the "lower" needs are just as important as the "higher" ones. By supporting my lower chakras, I help the higher chakras flourish. Conversely, when my higher chakras are activated in their full intensity, I must stay grounded to integrate their insights into tangible experiences. This cyclical process ensures harmony across all aspects of my being.
Stay tuned for more reflections on my journey with energy work. Perhaps, only if I feel like it, I’ll explore the connection between the seven chakras and Erikson’s Stages of Development in developmental psychology— it is a different framework that addresses similar universal themes. Overall, I just love pattern recognition and see that everywhere (hello fellow autistic folks).
